Since being named “Emerging Artist of Pittsburgh” in 2019, Saige Baxter has expanded her whimsical installations and beaded paintings. Baxter has installed public sculptures in Greensburg, Frick Park, The Museum Lab of Pittsburgh, The Children's Museum of Pittsburgh, Portugal and other locations. Her first international public sculpture was completed in 2018 and is permanently installed in Messejana, Portugal through the Buinho artist residency. Other residencies include Museum Lab, Bunker Projects and TOUGH Art. Saige acquired her Masters of Art in Teaching from MICA in 2022 and often combines her practice with her education career, influenced by play and learning. At Carnegie Mellon University, she teaches welding and metals as an adjunct professor. Recently, she has exhibited work with Every Woman’s Biennial in NYC, the Westmoreland Museum of American Art, Brew House and Associated Artists of Pittsburgh. Currently her interactive installation Sweet Treat is on display at the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh from her participation in the TOUGH artist residency.
